Glass Posse 12 Days of Christmas: Day 1

This is my book tree. Under it are all of our Christmas books, wrapped. Each day my daughters get to open one. They take turns, so that they open one every other day. It is really fun, and it makes our old favorite Christmas books seem like new again.

After hearing you and Carrie rave about doing this, we too are doing the 12 days of Christmas (more manageable than 24 with our current book collection). We even used the same wrapping paper as you (I think? Ikea??). Anyway, we're excited to start this tradition - should be lots of fun, so thanks for sharing!

How lovely that you can have them all under your tree like that. Ours have to be in the "on the shelf" book basket, so they are safe from the terrorizing influence of Preston.

candy cane paper is Staples I think....the other paper could be ikea, I got it out of the garbage pile that Carrie left when she moved....I scored big time on her Christmas paper throw-away pile.

corinne, we did have a baby-opening incident. Basically we started it a week early b/c she couldn't wait....but since then she understands she only opens when I say so....And I am ok with us being done early b/c now we have about 10 days to enjoy them all, and re-read our faves.

I made sure we read each book before before I wrapped them up, to make sure everything was thoroughly enjoyed during the season. The thing is, Preston wouldn't yet get the "open only when I say so." He'd laugh hysterically at my frustration and rip the next one (bless his heart) Next year...

We did our first night tonight (a day late, oh well) and the kids loved it. Tht 2 year old thought we were going to open ALL of the books, however, so we'll see if there's anything left under the tree in the morning. I don't have high hopes...
