Help...

June 5th, 2007

(It's JUST a meeting, but...)

I am featured on a show called RUNWAY MOMS on Discovery Health. It's a half hour documentary/reality-style show about modeling while pregnant/nursing. Whenever mine is on the air, it's the SAME one...so when people email me about my tiny little baby and how is the rosacea?...it's kind of funny b/c she is two now, potty training, and my pregnancy-induced rosacea is far away in the distance.

One of the producers of that show ended up seeing my Real Savvy moms audition tape and thought it was a good idea to meet with her peops over at Engel Entertainment to discuss SHOW IDEAS....

The meeting is tomorrow. I have a few ideas floating around in my head that would interest me...that have something to do with being a Mom...but I would love to hear your ideas too.

What is missing in the market out there? (think HGTV, Travel Channel, Discovery Health, A & E, TLC). What kind of show is host-able, interesting and accessible. What would YOU like to see on television that you are not finding right now?

And keep in mind, this is JUST a creativity meeting, it's not a guarentee, already in final stages, I have my own show on television thing....it's JUST a meeting....so let me know if anything comes to mind!

I would love to see something about "keeping yourself up" as a mom; fitness, hair, makeup, dress, just staying you after you have children. There may be something like this out there, but I can't find it. Good luck at your meeting; hope something comes of it!

What about something like DesignMom's website. . ."where motherhood and design intersect". You could showcase new companies, fun, smart products, etc. Answer viewer questions about design and style And of course, have giveaways!!

Good luck!!

I think there is a show called "Yummy Mummy" also on the discovery health channel that has all sorts of beauty, health, home and baby topics. It is a good idea but the show is kind of goofy and could be better. I think something along those lines and with all the ideas you listed in your Real Savvy audition tape. I would watch!!

I know we spoke briefly about this idea, but I think it would work....I love the idea of seeing different moms around the country or even around the world and what their everyday life looks like. I think that would include you visiting them and taking over for the day while they get a make over or something like that. I know I am always curious to see what other families look like behind closed doors in other parts of the country. It could also tackle heavy issues like poverty, autism, ADD, race and single parenthood, but at the same time it could be fun trying to see you make it through the day as the "temporary mom" while the real mom is pampered.

Also, the show Surviving Motherhood on TLC is on the right track but maybe could be tweaked to make it more interesting. It brings a group of mothers together to discuss a topic and has an expert, etc. Cameras follow around the family to assess the issue and then the mothers discuss it at the coffee shop and the expert also adds in. The family then takes the advice and checks back in a few weeks later.

I would love to see a show like the one the first poster mentioned above. Being a stay-at-home mom for the past 8 years has left me pretty much nothing like my former self and I have just started trying to figure out who I am outside of being a mom. I hope that makes sense. I would love to see an inspirational show for moms to help them look their best, give fitness and nutrional advise for different age groups, motivating/inspirational stories of finding happiness while still being their for your kids, cooking ideas for kids and foods that everyone will like, housekeeping & organizational tips for families, maybe even ideas of having a romatic weekend with your SO, and maybe ideas of starting different types of groups with other moms (fitness/walking groups, reading club groups, scrapbooking groups, etc.) I hope these ideas are useful for you (and I hope they make sense, I'm on my way out the door but wanted to post something quickly to help you out if I could.) :-)

I think the Yummy Mummy one isn't so great either. I always flip right off when it comes up because it bugs me for some reason. I am always interested in baby/ kid hot products and reviews. I also find it interesting to see creative ways other Mom's do things. Even like activities that you can do with your kids that don't break the bank. It seems like lots of parents just ship their kids off to stuff instead of doing things with them. Sounds super cool. Good luck!

I am very interested in good vacations for kids, but since you aren't a big traveler that may not be optimal.
Also, I am a very visual person - I have a cool book called "Todays Mama" and it's a handbook with activities, ideas, local places to take your kids, etc. but I would like it better if I could see the activities, ideas, and games played out. I think a TV version of that might be neat - showing kids and their moms doing a specific art/craft project, showing them at the zoo with age specific ideas on how to make it fun. You are so good at making activities more than just "going" to a museum - like when you dressed your girls like Andy Warhol (?) paintings or something to go to the MoMa (did I make that up?) I am just type-blabbing now but what about ways to enhance everyday activities, vacations, and projects with your kids?
