Announcement: People.com Don't Get Excited

I don't want to have a bash session about the girl that got it, just thought ya'll might be interested:

Maybe we can start a writing campaign complaining about her tan and her accent from another land saying what a great job she did. : )

Hi Kage,

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the people.com job. Not to bash, but just based on the videos you've posted on you blog, I think you're energy and look would've been a much better fit than who they chose. The tan and the bangs was a little distracting to me, it makes you wonder what they were looking for. I bet something bigger and better is just waiting out there for you! :-)

Is that accent supposed to be real? It's like she's faking the British, or bombing the American!

She sounds Welsh...

She looks OK...nothin' special...

I may now be biased but you would have rocked that show. She is blah, blah, blah. I just know its because something much better is out there and I personally can't wait to see what it will be :)

I thought she looked fake like other the other people on t.v. you look natural and real, and that doesnt seem to be what people are looking for in hollywood. they missed out.

As an English woman, I can confirm that the accent is Irish. However, she must have spent some years in the States as she's picked up and American twang - all very distracting.

Best of luck with the next project that comes your way.

Soon they will be talking about you, not you talking about them!
On to the next....

Hey, thanks everybody.....as always, on to the next!

Her delivery is definitely flat. You would've been great.

I think you might have been beat out by the cleavage. You know how trashy Hollywood loves boobs. :)

yeah, I'm kind of "eh" about her. But like you said, bigger and better! xo

Wow! I frequent here every once in a while and I'm a bit disappointed about your attitude.

You do live in America right? Most Americans did infact come from another country. And yes some of us still do have a bit of our accents, but we are still Americans. Next time you might want to rethink what you write about people from "other lands".

I think she did a fine job. Her hair was nice and soft and I thought she had a nice glow to her skin, rather than some pasty white thing standing there.

Sorry this isn't a comment you wanted to read, but I seriously was taken back by what you wrote.

Better luck next time.

Hmmm. Her skin looks less tan and more like "Oompa Loompa Orange" to me.

She is the same 'ol same 'ol cookie cutter television presenter type. Move along, nothing to see here.

You would have done much better. You shine, mama!

Anon: If you truly frequent this blog you would know that Kage would NEVER intend to offend a soul. I think the point that she was trying to make is perhaps that casting folk (and--let's face it--the rest of the US as we know it) are intrigued by people with an accent, and therefore she might have had a leg up in the competition because of it. OR it might have made her appear more interesting because it's something different than you would typically see on a site like People.com. In the same way, if I have a choice between the good looking guy from Iowa and the good looking guy with the hot Irish accent....Slainte! For my two cents: i'm blowing a raspberry at "sun-burned-looking-(atleastonmylaptop)-exotic-sounding" chic. So there.

With love, from Anon Squared.

anon 1, hopefully if you do read, you know that I am just trying to be funny and make lemonade out of lemons. I have NOTHING against accents, the reason I called it the "accent from another land" is because I couldn't quite place it (and you will see from the comments that it was a bit difficult to identify), and I have heard Madonna and Gwynethe (girls that frequent London) be accused of having that "accent from another land"...so I was just trying to make a joke.

I really am ok with not getting the job, and I am also ok about the fact that part of the way I am dealing with it is to poke a little fun at the girl who got it!

anon squared, thanks for having my back...and my intentions are 99.5% not trying to offend anyone, and about 25% (or possibly more) of the time I end up offending anyway...always trying to be better friend.

I know this convo is, like, over- but I must comment that having the accent makes her MORE average to me..because isn't that typical in any hollywoody-style-popularity contest? Having the accent just happens to be her lucky(sarcasm) break I guess.

I am actaully getting sick of hearing "light" accents on AMERCIAN tv, like Americans think it's "soo cool". Ugh. Give me a break. For all we know, in thier country their accent might disclose the fact that they were the eqivialnt to a "hick" in America. But since we don't know any better, the masses just go "Ohhh- so cool- an accent!" WHATEVER.

Kage- these comments were very entertaining...and how great that so many people are backing you up! I too think you could have done a better job and are much more "real". But I agree with whoever said that they don't really want that in Hollywood! You rock! Glad that you are having a great attitude about the whole thing!!
;o)

Kage- I'm sure you'll find something bigger and better than this. Your talent is amazing and you are a very real, naturally beautiful person. Hollywood is just weird. Best of luck! :)

your probably tired of this by now but i just had to comment. she's just the same ol same ol! i get so tired of everybody in hollywood having to look a certain way. its really getting so boring. everybody has long dull hair and super fake tan skin. prejudiced against pale people-haha!!!! i would love to see more of a variety of people. maybe one day they will catch on that most of america does too. so is there a video of your interview? i didnt see it and would like to.
thanks. good luck.
