Condo Adventures: Lights! !

These babies were SO worth the wait. My husband and I just couldn't come up with what we wanted in the family room for light. And then one day the Restoration Hardware Catalog arrived in our mail box and the lights called our names...

They are huge, oversized, deliciously large utility pendants. 19 inches each of pure awesomeness.

And we are experimenting with a new layout. It certainly opens up the room...it has served us well for some recent social gatherings. My husband doesn't like how the couch is blocking half of the bookcase, but that really doesn't bother me so much. But I am also the girl who thinks her oversized utility lamps are rockin' hot...so maybe we should get other opinions. Old layout here.

Those lights rule. 19 inches? You are so lucky.

Kage, Loving the lights... quick question... I was wondering where you got the couches... we are looking into getting new furniture, and they look comfy. The color would be really great too, just because I have a 2 year old son and a almost 7-month old daughter, so needless to say, dark hides stuff well! :)

The couches are OLD. They are from Seamans, which went out of business in my neighborhood. They are comfortable and it only took me 4 years of spot cleaning to figure out I could unzip the covers and throw them in the washing machine. YES, that is how brilliant I am.

Anyway, I think my next one might be from Jennifer Convertibles if I can convince my husband that we need a pullout.

Pottery Barn, West Elm and Crate and Barrel all have beautiful stuff. How about leather? Cleans easily?

Kage,
for looks, I like the originial layout more. But I can understand that it more open the other way. Are they exactly the same size? If one is bigger, I'd put that one up against the window wall. It seems kind of small there.
If you ever decide to get new, I would love to see something like this or for something more comfy, this Just some ideas!

Love the new lights-so cool. As far as the layout goes, here are my two cents. What about moving the tv over to the book shelf wall and then one of the couches to the wall where the tv was? Maybe? I don't know much, but that was my initial thought when I looked at the pictures. Good luck.

Guys, I KNOW about the tv....the tv jack/stuff is on the wall where it is....there is no changing it. I suppose we could get it rewired.....some day. so unfortunately, that's out.

The couches are the same size....but thanks for the suggestions...there will be changes to the couch situation some day....thanks for your input everyone.

kage, those lights are truly fantastic. so shiny! so big!

i like the new layout MUCH better....better flow.
maybe you could be on the lookout for a danish modern-ish sideboard to balance out the tv wall? i see them on ebay and CL for not too outrageous prices and they're fabulous for storage.

Hey, K. We tried to rewire our TV/Jack, too. They wanted $1000. So we live with UGLY wires running around our living room. I hate it....
