Response to 'My Bad Week'
To everyone thanks. Honestly, my weeks are normally nothing like that. As most of you know, I usually just need time to get through things and breath.

Denise, they recommend fillings because she has to be put under and it is rather expensive. They worry that if anything goes wrong with the sealings that she would have to be put under again to fix them.

So, who is this Kage? Does anyone know?

I don't know Kage but I did look at her profile and her blog that is listed there has a picture. It's odd to see comments from random people on a personal blog. I expect that on informative blogs i.e. Petra's Frugalityville. But I guess I don't search people I don't know or haven't been referred to. (I don't know how).

I prefer to refer to Kage as The Kage with special emphasis on "The". This is clearly because there is and can be only one Kage, so it shows more respect to the awesomeness that is Kage to refer to her as The Kage. You must come to know The Kage, for she is truly, truly remarkable.

I'm not sure the right words even exist to describe how incredible Kage is. Amazing, extraordinary, and fantastic all come to mind yet still somehow feel like they're not quite good enough to accurately describe Kage. Perhaps the only one that comes remotely close would be Bahooka. Yes, Kage is Bahooka.

Again, kudos to you for a great prank. The blogger in question has returned to her normal posts, where she has very few followers (maybe 5). Most of the people who actually know her found your prank hilarious. And I can never think of you again as anyone other than The Chosen One - too funny.

Anonymous said...

I don't get it. You picked a random blog and then made a snarky comment? Then when she got mad you made fun of her? I missing something? Because, if that's what happened, it seems more bitchy than funny. I have a blog for the same purpose as her and I have about 5 followers as well. Guess we can't all be as wonderful as KAGE.

MKC said...

I don't really get why this funny. It seems mean spirited to me.

Kage said...

1. I do not consider the comment I made to be snarky, I wasn't trying to find fault, just pointing out a different perspective on an object. I think your comment is definitely a good example of snarky though.

2. I don't think her initial response post showed anger at all. She just asked a question, and I thought it would be fun and clever to have it answered, especially since she doesn't get much traffic. I would get a kick out of that.

3. No one made fun of her. I believe every single comment was one about me, nothing about her at all.

So, yes I think you are missing a few things...and I think everyone has the ability to be as wonderful as me, in fact MORE wonderful!

MKC, If the blogger had reacted differently, would it still be mean-spirited? If she reacted: "This is hilarious! 39 comments!? That's more than I have ever had. Who is this crazy Kage woman?"
Would you feel differently then? What if she got me back on my blog? See, that's funny!

Anonymous said...

She was saying what a bad week she had and you chose to tell her you thought it wasn't a big deal. I got that part. It obviously hurt her feelings a little, or she wouldn't have asked who you were. Couldn't you have just let it go?

I guess I'm just putting myself in her shoes. Just because YOU thought the dress wasn't a big deal, doesn't mean she didn't. I'm just trying to offer you a different perspective, just like you tried to do for her. This still seems mean spirited to me. You got your whole family, and a lot of your friends to add to an already not good day.

Kage said...

Anon, you're a good friend. I am sure that you help her see things in a few different ways, so she should hold on to you.

Now, I'm off to a date with my husband! Maybe you will get my sense of humor better if you become a regular....the Posse is always here.

Amee said...

I tried to post on it, but I think she had already gotten to it. lol

Oh, oh! Do we need the blogger cops to intervene? Maybe a blogger attorney? What is this?

Maybe a sorry at the outset would have been in order. I'm just an outsider looking in.

Is this what blogging is supposed to be? I sure hope not. What a disaster.

NTG said...

First of all I think leaving anonymous posts is so cowardly. If you are going to leave comments like that at least have the guts to stand behind it with an identity. Why hide? What are you afraid of?

Secondly, if someone is so uptight as to pull their kids out of religious education over a little paint on a dress, then I would say that person needs to lighten up and Kage's so called prank is just what that person needed.

Thirdly, I can vouch for several of the people who posted and I can guarantee that there was no bad intent. It was just a joke. Chill out anon, and McGraw Land.

Im just an outsider looking in, but those are my thoughts and as long as a Blog is public you better be open to whatever comes your way.

jlk said...

I think a lot of times, humor does not translate well over the internet. Also, some people don't take pranks well. I am one of those people, even though I think I have a pretty good sense of humor. I can see where Team Kage thought they were doing something clever and witty, but I can also see how it tipped the meltdown scale of the other person.

To sum up, please don't prank me, and funny isn't funny to everyone.

Kage said...

Buh-lawgers....I don't know...all these comments....I think maybe I better go private. I'm getting a little teary, ever since I was called a bitch. (SARCASM) Have a nice weekend everybody...(NOT sarcasm)

Okay, now I don’t get it. The blog in question was a public blog. Lots of people randomly peruse blogs unless they are prevented to by the blog administrator (i.e, making a blog private). Kage made a comment about a particular section of a blog post (the comment that has now been removed by the blog administrator. That's too bad since people would be able to see that the comment wasn’t bitchy, as you suggest). A lot of people thought the reaction to the dress was over the top, not just Kage. The blog administrator asked who Kage was. At that point, there were comments made by Kage’s friends about Kage. Not one comment was made about the blog administrator. If I had received that many comments on my blog, I’d be laughing hysterically. Since the blog administrator was having a bad week, a little leavity might have changed her perspective. And, I agree with NTG – one should have the courage to stand by their comments, and not hide behind the Anonymous caption.

If you think someone's attitude is 'over the top' & you don't know them - don't say anything. I've seen the beloved Kage respond to some things in which I thought was a tad bit 'over the top'. It's not my place to comment as people all look at things differently. If I say people posting about how wonderful someone was on my blog - & I didn't know that person, I'd think they need to get a life. Funny - perhaps to some, but it's also important to remember we're all at different points in life & respond differently to things based on what is going on in our lives. Not all of us need to be as popular or wonderful as Kage - we're comfortable with our 5 followers - especially when those 5viewers are people we enjoy.

Following #3 as mentioned in these
4 Blog Rules, I am joining the conversation again. And I think I broke rule #1 on this blog etiquette page, by reposting the whole post, maybe I'll go back and make it a quote, but at least I attributed it to the right person/people.

I think what I have learned from this experience is that everyone has their own opinion, is entitled to that, is free to share it on a public blog, and that I still rule blog prank land and this blog.
