Third Person Thursday

Their summer read-aloud is The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.

She read across this passage last night with Phoebe on Pg. 160:

"But Kate had spent all her life--ever since her father abandoned her, which affected her more than she cared to admit--trying to prove she didn't need anyone's help, and this was easiest to believe when she was doing what she was good at."

Huh.

She's gonna think that over.

But does part 2 of Kate's story say that another Dad came into her life and really loved her and took care of her?

Not for Kate.

I wish it were for Kate as it was for me.

So much Damage done, that sadly, no one else can repair.....

The part I liked about the quote was "trying to prove she didn't need anyone's help, and this was easiest to believe when she was doing what she was good at."

I think I have been trying to prove for a long time.....
